Tuition and Supplies

Group lessons refer to 3-4 students per hour weekly, who rotate to different lab stations, one of which is a private lesson station.

Tuition is based on an average of 4 lessons per month and is payable in advance on the 1st of each month.  If your lesson day falls on the 5th lesson day of the month, lessons will not be held that week since lessons are based on a 4-week month.

If any payment is not received by the 5th of the month, a $15.00 late fee will be assessed. Please automatically add the late fee if you pay late. These charges do remain on your account even if you do not add in the late fee. Checks returned for non-sufficient funds will incur a $30 fee. Tuition fees are subject to an annual 5% increase upon 30-days written notice to the student. Any tuition that is not paid within 30-days of the due date will result in immediate termination of lessons.

Throughout the year, I will purchase music for you and you will be charged accordingly. For loaned music, you will be charged replacement value for any items not returned or returned in poor condition.

Yearly Registration Fee: $30

Students registering for lessons at the Hill AFB Youth Center, will not be charged the $30 registration fee.  Tuition is set by the Hill AFB Youth Center.

Dismissal Policy

Students may be dismissed for any reason including, but not limited to the following: repeated failure to practice, prepare or attend lessons, inappropriate or disrespectful behavior, equipment damage, destruction or property or theft, failure to make payments promptly.

When you register for lessons, you are registering for  September – May. (Summer lessons are also offered.)  You are responsible for tuition through May, 2015, unless prior approval from Sandy and an early termination fee is paid. If the studio terminates lessons, tuition will be prorated up to the last lesson scheduled, whether the student attends that lesson or not.

Lesson Attendance

Attendance is an important part of piano lessons. Please arrive on-time, but no more than five minutes prior to your scheduled lesson to allow the student before you to have their full lesson without distractions. Please also be picked up on time so students after you also receive the same courtesy. Lessons will not be extended for a student who arrives late.

When you arrive and leave lessons, enter and exit through the garage. Come downstairs and wait in the Family Room for your lesson to begin. Please be courteous of the people who are finishing up with their lesson prior to yours. Come in and wait quietly by the door for your lesson to begin. Students are only allowed in the studio area and not in other areas of my home. Students are requested to come to lessons with hands washed and nails trimmed. Food, gum, candy, cell phones or iPods are not allowed at lessons.

Private and group lessons are provided on a weekly basis. Lessons are conducted at a specific day and time, reserved for each student. The time scheduled for each student’s lesson is reserved for his or her exclusive use. Monthly tuition is based on enrollment, not attendance. The costs associated with your tuition are expended whether the student attends lessons or not. Your tuition purchases a reserved lesson time for you and related expenses. You should plan activities carefully, as limited make-up lessons are available and I am not available to teach at times not listed the schedule. There are no credits for missed lessons. If you are unable to attend a lesson, please call or text me as soon as possible and I will schedule a makeup lesson. Lessons cancelled by me will either be made-up, or a refund towards the next month's tuition.

Summer Lessons

Summer lessons are held June through August. Summer is the very best time to practice, so lessons should continue as much as possible. When students take three months off, they lose the habit of practicing, and they lose their learning momentum on the piano. I highly encourage summer lessons if at all possible. There are three options for summer lessons (and I will work around your vacations). Please select 1 option:

1. Continue lessons weekly

2. Continue lessons but switch to every-other week

3. No summer lessons, but will pay the $30 Registration Fee(s) to hold your spot(s)

Performances

Performance is a valuable part of music education.  Various performance and competition opportunities are available.  A yearly recital is held at the end of the school year.  Appropriate church-type attire is required.  Students not considered performance ready one week prior to the event will be pulled from the event.
